Kuwait backs paper bags

A government programme to replace plastic bags with paper ones at retail outlets is underway in Kuwait. Over a million paper bags have been distributed to co-ops in a bid to reduce the number of non-biodegradable plastic bags polluting the environment, according to the Kuwait Times. The public will also be educated about the role plastic bags play in causing cancer.
