The initiative is a smart and economical way to use existing (non-du) landline phones to make national and international calls. The calls dialled with a prefix will get routed through the 'du' network offering immediate savings without changing the existing landline number or phone.
Starting 26 July 2007, customers subscribing to Call Select will be able to avail the service by just dialling the prefix 08888 before making a call. The service is available in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah, and will be quickly rolled out nationwide. du will continuously offer new capabilities as part of its roadmap to roll out fixed services.
Sharing details on the new service, Osman Sultan, CEO, du, said: 'It gives me immense pleasure to announce the launch of Call Select. Call Select gives the user total freedom and the flexibility to choose a different network service in a hassle-free manner. I would like to put on record our gratitude to the TRA for all their support, which enables us to continue to bring innovative new services to the UAE.'
'Now customers can save with Pay by the Second and off-peak international rates around the clock. We are confident of getting an encouraging response from the people of the UAE,' added Sultan.
