Vice President/Marketing, Sales and Services Hussein Dabbas said that the twice-weekly service is bound to increase in light of the expected growth in travel between Hungary and Jordan after His Majesty King Abdullah II visit to Hungary last June. His Majesty's visit is sure to have a large positive impact on the development of commerce, economy and tourism between the two countries.
Dabbas said that the company conducted feasibility studies to open this route, particularly that Hungary enjoys a distinguished geographic position in Central Europe. The airline will become a distribution and polarization carrier for passengers in the region.
Dabbas pointed out that RJ's and Malev Hungarian Airline's membership in the oneworld airline alliance is one of the reasons that led to operating this service. The two carriers signed a code-share agreement in June this year in order to coordinate marketing between them. The agreement allows each carrier to put its code on the other's tickets when flying to a number of cities in the Middle East, and Central and Northern Europe. Today's inaugural flight is a code share flight with number RJ129/MA4129.
RJ is positive of this service's success, said Dabbas. Hungary's membership in the European Union gives the country economic, cultural, geographic and tourism value, attracting Jordanian tourism to the European continent, he added.
RJ will fly from Amman to Budapest on Tuesdays and Saturdays, using the Embraer 195 aircraft. The plane will depart from Amman at 11:30 a.m. local time, and arrives in Budapest at 14:10 local time. The flight from Budapest departs at 14:55 local time, and arrives in Amman at 19:10 local time.
Budapest is the second station RJ opens in 2007. On May 25, the airline inaugurated its first nonstop flight to Montreal. With these two destinations, RJ serves 54 cities spread over four continents.
