Iraq to offer mobile licences

Iraq will this month offer three new mobile phone operating licences for up to 15 years, Dow Jones Newswires reports. An auction will be held on 16-17 August and the winners announced on 18 August, an official with one of the current operators told the news service. A tender was announced last month. Iraq has 9m mobile phone subscribers in a population of 27m.
