The event was attended by Dr. Imad Sabouni, Chairman of Directors' Board at SCS and member of directors board and Dr. Muhannad Alloush, President of the organizing committee for SH@@M Exhibition and Mr. Alaa Hilal CEO of the Arabian Group for Exhibitions and Conferences in addition to a number of embassies, Arabic and Foreign trade commissions' representatives in Damascus and other interested parties in this field.
During the conference, SCS announced the procedures for organizing the 13th edition of the exhibition that guarantees a successful edition according to new criteria and organizing basics that the SCS established for the first time. The supervising committee of the exhibition has made a transformation in this edition with the quality and appearance of SH@@M exhibition placing it paralleled with similar specialized exhibitions of this field, aspiring to make of it a lifter for the communication and information technology sector in Syria.
The first step was finding a professional partner specialized in organizing exhibitions to assign for this mission based on the term 'a key in hand' within the SCS vision for the exhibition's form and quality, and for that a selection system with high scientific modern standards was set.
The selection was made, among several candidates of major exhibition organizers for The Arabian Group for Exhibitions and Conferences who proved success in all their exhibitions especially 'BUILDEX', the International exhibition for construction that became the larger and most important exhibition in the field of construction in the Arabic region. The Arabian Group will handle all the organizing methods for the exhibition under the supervision of the SCS.
Also there has been a review for the steps that will be executed by the Arabian Group, among them reinforcing the local and international dimension of the exhibition focusing on the financial targets through customer care in order to attract as many specialized visitors and potential clients to create efficient working atmosphere to guarantee the benefits for the exhibitors and the showcasing companies and opening a new potential market for its products and services regionally and in Arab countries.
Demands of visitors will be met through preparation that will allow the visitor to attain what he needs beside what the exhibitors have to offer all that according to the highest international standards of the exhibitions industry.
In addition to the improvement of quality of the local participating companies and reconsider booth arrangements to suit the level and specialties of the participants companies and emphasizing the scientific dimension of the exhibition through seminars and technical conferences specialized in the filed of informatics technology.
According to the organizer of the exhibition, SH@@M edition will become an annual tradition and a unique event in Syria and the region benefiting from the special partnership experience represented by the great respect that the SCS has and the professionalism, confidence and international reputation that Arabian Group gained through their achievements.
In this area, the SCS has an important status and a key role in pursuance of informative issues and providing communications between interested parties among technologists and technology investors and the latest inventions.
The Syrian Computer Society was established in 1989 by the initiation of its first late president Dr. Bassel Assad and a number of founders members specialized in the informative field, SCS aim to insert information technology in all economic sectors in Syria, also to spread informative culture through organizing seminars, conferences and exhibitions in addition to producing television programs and publications in the field of informatics technology.
'SH@@M' the exhibition of information technology and communication that was held the first time in 1994 is the most important activity that SCS held and was able through it to enrich the informative sector and spread it in Syria and improve the communications between specialists in a manner that helps fill in the digital gap that our Arabic society still suffer of and keeping in following the international and scientific world wave.
The Syrian Computer Society Goals:
•Building and encouraging researches and activities that are beneficial in arabazing, measuring and uniting the informative idioms, in using computers linguistically, developing Arabic applicative programs and other researches participating in raising the level of informatics technology in the country.
•Helping to enrich scientific and public libraries with researches and scientific references in the country beside tools and scientific documentaries and placing these sources for the use of every party demanding to follow the latest studies and informatics technology related researches.
•Organizing exhibitions, seminars science courses and conferences cooperating with academic parties, throwing scientific field trips, spreading informatics among citizens.
•Cooperating with media tools like Radio and Television and publishing houses to spread informatics through programs, articles and books.
•Cooperating with educational and academic sectors to improve informative technology educational methods and using it to improve other educational methods.
•Issuing publications and a magazine to publish researches and studies that serves SCS goals.
•Contributing with formal and managerial and statistical sectors in reviewing the improvement level of the informatics systems in the country.
•Establishing relations with committees and parties with goals matching the SCS aims, contacting local and international establishment and participating in uniting the efforts of these parties to achieve the SCS's objectives.
•Cooperating with the working sides in the informatics field to rationalize the use of computers in the country and constrain the waste in this matter.
•Cooperating with communication related sectors in order to improve the means, engines and necessary networks to transmit and exchange information.
Arabian Group and Syrian Computer Society launch the 13th Exhibition of Information Technology and Communication 'SH@@M 2007'
The 13th Exhibition of Information Technology and Communication, 'SH@@M 2007' which will be held at the Damascus fairground from 7 - 11 November 2007 was launched recently by the Syrian Computer Society (SCS) in cooperation with the exhibition organizer The Arabian Group for Exhibitions and Conferences in a press conference at the Damascus Family Club.
