US seeks Opec increase

Sam Bodman, the US Energy Secretary, has said he hopes Opec will decide to increase its output at its meeting next month, following a sizeable drop in US crude oil inventories, reported Reuters. Government figures released last week revealed inventories dropped by 6.5m barrels in the week ending July 27, the fourth straight drop. Bodman said current supply was 'a little short' of preferred levels.
