Marwan Bin Ghelaita appointed CEO of Real Estate Regulatory Agency

The agency was established in Dubai last week at the directive of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai. it will be responsible for four key aspects of the sector which include policies and strategies, regulation and registration, research and studies as well as programmes and projects.

The establishment of the Agency underlines the objectives of Dubai Strategic Plan 2015, which has placed significant emphasis on the real estate sector as one of the major drivers of the Emirate's economy.

In his role as the CEO, Bin Ghelaita will submit a strategic business plan to the Council.

He will also be responsible for implementing The Executive Council's decisions, proposing initiatives and projects related to the Agency's activities, preparing the annual budget, proposing the organisational structure as well as financial, administrative and technical by-laws.

Marwan Bin Ghelaita said: "The establishment of the agency aims to develop the Real Estate Sector in line with the Dubai Strategy Plan 2015, especially that this sector was sighted as one of the most strength sectors in Dubai and a major element in determining its competitive advantages.

"We will embark on reviewing and updating current laws and regulations and suggesting new regulatory frameworks to protect the interests of all concerned."

Beginning his career with the Department of Land and Properties as survey engineer, Marwan bin Ghelaita became the first UAE National to head the Survey Division in 1999. Prior to his appointment as CEO of the Real Estate Regulatory Agency, Bin Ghelaita served as the Acting Director of Technical Affairs and Customer Service.

Marwan Bin Ghelaita has a Bachelor's degree in Survey Engineering from Fresno University in California, US, and an MBA in Business Administration from the Arab Academy for Science and Technology in Alexandria. He has contributed to many important projects including the Electronic Archiving and the e-Government initiative. An active member in many internal and external committees, Bin Ghelaita is also a participant in Mohammed Bin Rashid Leadership Programme.
