'This is the third year in a row that we are organising this major event for the food and hospitality sector in Oman in response to the country's growing food demand and the need for modern catering equipment,' said C.J. Paul, general manager of Omanexpo LLC, the leading organiser of trade and consumer fairs in the sultanate.

Paul pointed out that Food Expo 2007 will showcase a wide range of food products and the latest equipment used in food manufacturing, food preparation, and food processing. The three-day event will prominently feature not only food and beverage from all over the world but also the newest kitchen and catering equipment, food service supplies for hotels and restaurants, and the requirements of groceries and hypermarkets.

In addition, Food Expo 2007 will highlight the sultanate's agricultural and fishery products while presenting innovative packaging systems and modern food processing technologies.

'Everything that has something to do with food and beverage will be there at Food Expo 2007,' Paul stressed.

'The event will truly reflect the continued growth of the food industry in Oman with the strong presence of leading companies in the sultanate and the participation of international companies that want to enter the local market.'

Last year's edition of Food Expo attracted the participation of major companies including Abdul Khalik Abdullah Habib Najwani & Partners LLC, A'Saffa Poultry Farms SAOG, General Electric & Trading Company LLC, Shah Nagardas Manji & Company, and Sharikah Fanniyah Omaniyah (Muscat) LLC. Among the other exhibitors were Matrah Cold Stores, Al Bayader International, Premium Food Industries, Sohar Poultry Company, Oman Gulf Enterprises, and Business International Group.

The international exhibitors, on the other hand, came all the way from Italy, Germany, Brunei Darussalam, Tunisia, Sri Lanka, the UAE, and the UK. According to Paul, more foreign companies are expected to participate this year with the launching of new tourism projects, which are projected to increase the demand for various types of catering, kitchen and food service equipment.

'Food Expo 2007 is the ideal event where buyers and sellers in the food and hospitality industry can have direct interaction for a mutually beneficial business partnership,' said Abdullah Beg, project manager of the event.
