Dubai Silicon Oasis to unveil on-site First Aid Centre

Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority (DSOA) today announced plans to set up a First Aid Centre to meet the medical needs of employees and labourers working on projects within its premises.

The centre, to be set up in association with the Department of Health and Medical Services (DOHMS) in Dubai, will have a number of certified personnel dedicated primarily for the benefit of workers at the construction sites and projects under development.

Khalil Odeh Shalan, Director of Operation & Facility Management- Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority, said: "With a dramatic increase in the number of projects coming up at the silicon oasis, it has become imperative to offer medical facilities, especially for construction workers and other employees. The First Aid Centre is being launched with the objective of treating employees working on these sites who suffer work-related injuries, and is in line with the rules and regulation of the Ministry of Labour."

"The establishment of this centre at Dubai Silicon Oasis will ensure the health and safety of all employees at the DSO development, cementing our commitment to the community as a socially responsible organisation."

Khalid Ahmad Al Shaikh, Asst. Director General for Finance & Administration - Department of Health & Medical Services in Dubai, said: "This initiative by the Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority falls in line with our aim to provide preventive and curative health services based on international standards. Through the First Aid Centre at the Dubai Silicon Oasis premises, where we will be able to provide immediate treatment at a convenient medical facility for the employees and workers."

"The Ministry of Labour's vision is to create an efficient work environment that achieves a balance between the interests of workers, employers and society as a whole. Our role as an organisation is to facilitate the Ministry's goals by working with our investors, partners and local government departments to not only ensure worker safety but also meet their medical needs on site," concluded Khalil.
The First Aid Centre will include full set quality medical equipment including lifeline emergency carts, defibrillators, ECG machines, glucose analyzers, oxygen cylinders, regulators, masks, emergency kits and diagnostic sets.
