Starlink appointed to provide Hala cards for Qtel
- Qatar: Tuesday, August 07 - 2007 at 15:46
- PRESS RELEASE
Starlink, Qatar's premier telecommunications and media entertainment retailer, is rapidly increasing electronic services for Qatar Telecom (Qtel) products throughout Qatar with the signing of the Al Meera Cooperative.
The introduction of the e-vouchers system has numerous advantages both for the retailer and for the consumer compared to the previous scratch cards. For the consumer it means; no more scratching of physical cards and more convenience as the e-Vouchers are available from more outlets other than just the usual supermarket or local grocer. Starlink has also partnered with Doha Bank, Q-Post, Teyseer and Woqod and many other channels to expand the number of points of sale where vouchers can be purchased to better provide Qtel customers with ease of access to Top-up facilities. Less traditional channels where Starlink has implemented e-Vouchers include Cafes, Restaurants, Petrol Station Pump attendants, etc. Starlink also sells the e-vouchers via www.starlinkworld.com and their own self-service vending machines (ATMs) being installed throughout Qatar.
"The e-Vouchers are dispensed from a small point of sale terminal (similar to a credit card swipe machine) and are available for all denominations of Hala, WiFi, Ebhar and Q-Card. From a retailer's perspective, the e-Voucher solution is very attractive and the number of points of sale are increasing daily. Retailers have found that e-Vouchers remove their logistics & delivery issues as everything is immediately available online from Starlink's server system. Additionally, retailers have no storage or security issues as they do with Scratch cards. Ordering is done as you go - on demand, which allows much more flexibility for the retailers and expands their sales and revenue earning opportunities", commented Alan Sinfield, CEO of Starlink.
Starlink is a premier Telecommunications & Media Entertainment company, which recently launched retail operations in Qatar. Starlink Retail Sales outlets and can be found at Royal Plaza, The Mall, City Centre, Muntaza, Musheireb, Souk Al Atiya and many other new locations opening soon throughout the Country to include the Corniche, Nasr Street and others.
