Like its 5-door sibling, the 3-door BMW 118i is powered by a 2-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine featuring precision fuel-injection. Generating a maximum of 136 horse power and 180 Nm of torque, the BMW 118i accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 9.4 seconds. Power is transmitted to the rear wheels through a 6-speed steptronic gearbox, which can take the car to a top speed of 208 km/h.
"The 3-door version of the BMW 118i has significant enhancements to the design; the signature BMW kidney grille has been modified, as have the headlights, air intake and bumpers. The interior has been redesigned too, with more storage space, finer materials and more colour options,"
said Naim Majdalani, Director of Sales & Marketing for Alfardan Automobiles.
While the aesthetics might have changed, all the fantastic BMW technology remains the same. Like the 5-door BMW 118i, the 3-door has a sturdy chassis atop a fine-tuned suspension. The rear wheel drive system gives the car agility and dexterity on the road, which is harnessed completely by the DSC (Dynamic Stability Control) system that keeps the car in control at all times and avoids understeer or oversteer.
"The BMW 118i is one of the safest cars in its class. Front and side airbags protect all passengers in case of a crash. Moreover, the car is characterised by standard features runflat tyres, a tyre defect indicator in addition to other optional features such as active steering, adaptive headlights that turn with the car so the road ahead is well-lit even on a curve, progressive brightness tail lights to indicate the level of braking, and a choice of audio and navigation options, including AUX interfaces for connecting external entertainment systems," continued Majdalani.
