Starbucks offers customers Arabian and African coffees

  • United Arab Emirates: Thursday, August 09 - 2007 at 13:34
  • PRESS RELEASE

The inviting aromas and tastes of Arabian and African coffees will fill all Starbucks stores this summer with the introduction of Starbucks Arabian Mocha Sanani, Tanzania, Gazebo Blend and Rift Valley coffees.

These coffees are a lot like summer itself, citrusy, floral and fruity, and available for a limited time only at selected Middle East Starbucks locations.

These high quality coffees will provide customers with a glimpse of Arabia and Africa and make it possible for coffee lovers to enjoy an unusual but delicious summertime treat while unwinding with friends and family at the neighbourhood Starbucks stores.

"Arabian Mocha Sanani from Yemen is considered one of the coffee world's most exotic treasures," said Antoun Abou Jaoude, Marketing Manager for Starbucks Coffee Middle East. "While Yemen is not known to many as a coffee producer, Starbucks is delighted to offer this distinguished product to its customers." Possessing unique tastes of spice, cocoa and berries, Abou Jaoude suggested maximising the flavour of the Arabian Mocha Sanani by pairing it with strawberry cheesecake or fresh mozzarella with pesto sandwich.

Another origin for this mid-summer Starbucks coffee journey is the United Republic of Tanzania, a country that produces medium yet delicately complex coffee. "Tanzania coffee possesses currant and berry flavours, as well as lemony acidity and East African citrus," added Abou Jaoude. "Different aspects of Tanzania's bouquet are released when you enjoy it with blueberry muffins or mushroom/chicken quiches."

Perfect hot or iced, Starbucks is also introducing an elegant assortment of East African coffees including Gazebo BlendŽ and Rift Valley BlendŽ. The Gazebo BlendŽ marks the return of an annual favourite; the most popular and enduring blends - a tasty blend of African coffees that are citrusy and refreshing. All citrus desserts, from lemon muffins to orange sorbet, will complement the fruity notes of this unique coffee.

Believed to be the birthplace of coffee, the Rift Valley Blend, on the other hand, offers a very different coffee experience, displaying the expertise of blenders and roasters of the highest calibre. Formed out of explosive earthquake and volcanic activity, the Rift Valley BlendŽ brings to mind the intensity of its origin while its seasoned flavour is complemented with an apricot granola bar.

In addition this summer, coffee lovers can choose from a delectable range of Java Chip FrappuccinoŽ to cool them down during the hot summer months. The new beverage is a creamy, crunchy and indulgent summer beverage marked with the smooth Starbucks Espresso and signature buttery caramel sauce. Premium chips made of cookie crumbs mixed with rich cocoa flavour and topped with a chocolate coating give this decadent icy beverage a subtle crunch that will surprise and delight customers.

Java Chip FrappuccinoŽ can be made with chocolate or caramel and blended in cream or in a light variation. For those who choose to fully indulge, it can be served with a topping of whipped cream and mocha drizzle. "For those who want a cool and refreshing indulgence, Java Chip FrappuccinoŽ is tailored to suit all tastes and offer our customers a taste-sensation and a Starbucks 'Chill Time' during their day," Abou Jaoude added.
