The decision came after last week's meeting between the Executive Committee of Gulf Air and the airline's Acting Chief Executive Björn Näf, who initiated the proposal to relieve employees of the levy.
Gulf Air, which implemented the decision in June, will also compensate the employees by back-dating the recent decision to when the company implemented the deduction.
'We have carefully and thoroughly studied the matter and we are thankful to the executive committee to swiftly back the decision to relieve the employees of this financial cost,' says Mr Näf
'We are proud of the hardwork, dedication and commitment by Gulf Air employees as we work together to align, build and grow this national carrier of Bahrain.'
Gulf Air bears 1 per cent deduction from staff salaries for unemployment scheme
On behalf of its staff, Gulf Air, the national carrier of the Kingdom of Bahrain, announces that the Company will bear the cost of the 1 per cent salary deduction for the government-imposed Unemployment Insurance Scheme.
