The meeting was attended by 40 employees from various departments at DIB, along with the CEO. The agenda included such topics as employee benefits and incentives, Emiratisation policies, and DIB's development and training schemes. Subsequent meetings will be held periodically to include all male and female UAE national employees of the bank.

At the opening of the meeting, Saad Abdul Razak thanked the employees for attending and confirmed that the bank is committed to its Emiratisation process and its ongoing investment in UAE national employees.

Abdul Razak said: "These meetings reflect DIB's appreciation for its UAE national employees. The bank has enjoyed enormous success recently, including recognition in The Banker magazine, which rated DIB as one of the fastest growing banks in the world. Indeed, in the first half of the current year the bank hit a record in its net profits, which topped AED 1.5 billion, making DIB the most profitable bank in the UAE. These achievements would not have been possible without the talent and dedication of the bank's UAE national employees."

He added: "DIB has always sought to provide its national employees with the incentives and training needed for them to shine, and our efforts have been rewarded. As of year-end 2006, a full 45 per cent of DIB's employees were nationals, one of the highest rates among major banks in the UAE. Furthermore, all of the branch managers and 80 per cent of the employees at these branches are UAE nationals, which is, again, as high as at any bank in the country. The women employees at our 'Johara,' or ladies-only, branches are almost 100 per cent UAE nationals."

Abdul Razak concluded: "DIB will continue its Emiratization efforts by launching more of its unique and innovative development programs, such as 'Qiyadi,' 'Tamayaz' and 'Emirati,' which are geared to preparing, training and qualifying UAE national employees for senior leadership positions."
