Sun Microsystems is 'OPEN for Middle East Business' at GITEX 2007

In addition to demonstrating the growth capacity and cost-saving benefits that companies in the Middle East receive when they opt for non-proprietary, open solutions, Sun Microsystems will also be recognizing a number of its regional customers during GITEX with awards for the innovative use of its technology, including return on investment, competitiveness and strategic industry deployment of software, hardware, and storage solutions.

Our Solaris operating system is open-source and runs on any hardware platform, our server systems from blades through to enterprise solutions are powered by both AMD and Intel processors, and we're enabling developers around the region to develop new, open software solutions using the Java platform,' said Deena Habib, marketing manager for Sun Microsystems MENA.

A team of experts from Sun's Software, Systems, Storage and Services (four S's) divisions will be present at GITEX to give visitors an in-depth view of the business benefits of Sun's solution; and will provide insights into the efforts the company is employing to integrate the four S's to drive value, grow communities, increase participation and build new markets.

In addition to highlighting the openness of Sun systems at GITEX, the company will also be flying its 'green' banner during the five-day exhibition. Visitors to GITEX can also learn more about the new Sun Blade 6000 family, which is the first-ever system to combine Solaris, Linux, Windows, and VMware running on single and multi-core processors by Sun, AMD, and Intel, in one chassis.
