French Ambassador visits RCSI - Medical University of Bahrain

A high level French Embassy Healthcare delegation visited the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland - Medical University of Bahrain (RCSI - MUB).
During the visit, the delegation was taken on a guided tour around the temporary premises and briefed on the progress of the University's new high-tech campus being developed next to King Hamad's General Hospital.
The visiting team also discussed potential bilateral co-operation between RCSI-MUB and French healthcare organizations, specifically for the upcoming RCSI-MUB's project - Bahrain Health Oasis - the foundation stone laying ceremony of which is scheduled for the end of this year.
Bahrain Health Oasis will incorporate high quality medical care with first class leisure and wellness facilities encompassing a 200-bed private hospital, European and American specialized clinics, two hotels, a shopping mall as well as offices and residential units for students and staff.

RCSI-MUB:
The Medical University of Bahrain (MUB), a constituent of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RSCI), has signed a Public Relations agreement with FP7 Bahrain to handle its communications plan and activities.
RCSI-MUB, officially opened in Bahrain in October 2004 in the Seef District, provides healthcare education and training to world standards in Bahrain, drawing students from Bahrain, India, Italy, Kuwait, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, United States of America and Yemen.
In March 2006, the foundation stone for the new RCSI-MUB campus in Muharraq has been jointly laid by His Highness the Prime Minister Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman Al-Khalifa and the Deputy Prime Minister of Ireland, Mary Harney.
The University's new BD 10-plus million campus will occupy an area of 90,000sqm and will be built in phases starting with the central administration and medical teaching building and student accommodation which should be fully operational by October 2007.
Other schools in the fields of nursing, pharmacy, physiotherapy and dentistry will be added to the campus at a later phase.
