Promotional changes mark new milestone for ADDF

Niveen Ibrahim, General Manager of Abu Dhabi Duty Free (ADDF), has announced that in line with recent restructuring changes, James McLean and Karen Fairman have been promoted to the roles of Assistant General Manager.

Under the new structure that has been introduced after the recent departure of Mohamed Mounib as head of ADDF after 23 years, both Fairman's and McLean's Assistant General Manager role sit as the immediate deputy roles to Ibrahim. The title of Managing Director, held last by Mounib, has not been adopted under the new structure.

"I am very pleased to announce the promotion of two of our longest and most dedicated serving senior managers into their challenging new roles," said Niveen Ibrahim, GM - ADDF and who was recently appointed Acting-Commercial Director of Abu Dhabi Airports Company (ADAC).

McLean, previously Commercial Director for ADDF has been promoted to Asst. General Manager for Commercial and Concessions is responsible for improving the company's profitability and handling RFPs. He has been working for the company for the last 10 years while Fairman, who in addition to taking on the role of Asst. General Manager for Operations will also continue to oversee many of the roles conducted while as the Buying and Merchandising Manager.

Assisting Fairman in her old position is Beverly Soar, previously Brand & Merchandising Manager, with Naji Sobh also promoted to the position of Logistics and Duty Free Purchasing Manager.

Other promoted employees from the Buying Department are: Ester Delfin, Asst. Buying Manager for Food and Confectionery is responsible for the entire business of food and confectionery category including beverages; Mina George, Asst. Buying Manager for Liquor and Tobacco, is in charge with the actual buying process for the said products; and Blindu Bogdan as Buyer.

Andrew Chupeau, previously PR manager, takes on the Assistant Marketing Manager's role with another promotion from the Marketing Department, Basim Amer, promoted to Media Buyer.

All promotions are effective immediately with these changes, in line with ADDF's closer integration with ADAC, having been made to strengthen key positions under the new structure in order to foster further development and growth due to the expanding and wider business demands that ADDF will be phasing in over the next few years, says the company.

Established in 1984 with just five shops, Abu Dhabi Duty Free (ADDF) has grown into a multi-award winning travel retail organization and as the second-largest operation in the Middle East maintains the highest average spend per customer of all Middle East Duty Free operations.

ADDF services extend across the Emirate with operations at Abu Dhabi International Airport, Al Ain International Airport, and the Ghweifat land-border outlet between the UAE and KSA.
