Scanit to recruit and train local IT security talents

This is part of Scanit's recruitment services offering aimed at helping Middle East-based companies and its own clients leverage the skills of Malaysian IT security professionals.

Scanit will conduct its recruitment and interview sessions at Asia's largest network security conference HITBSecConf 2007, which will be held from 3-6 September at KL Hilton.

'As part of our IT security recruitment services, we are looking to recruit and train more than 60 candidates with hands-on IT security experience who will eventually serve some of the largest companies in the Middle East,'

said David Michaux, Chief Executive Officer, Scanit.

'This is a win-win scenario because Malaysia has the opportunity to export world-class IT talent. More importantly, these candidates will eventually return to Malaysia with their new found knowledge and expertise, and contribute effectively towards the country's knowledge-driven economy,' he added.

Michaux noted that the quality and level of experience in IT security is very high among Malaysian candidates, hence the decision to recruit in this country.

'It is a known fact that Middle East-based companies are always keen to tap on the skills of these local professionals in an effort to enhance their own level of IT security in line with international and industry best practices,' said Michaux.

Foray into Malaysia

In recognition of the increased business potential in Malaysia, Scanit is also planning to open an office in Kuala Lumpur. The new office will serve and support its Middle East-based customers who have set up operations in Malaysia, as well as to develop new business opportunities.

Scanit's initial move into the local market will focus on servicing its existing Middle East-based customers who have investments in Malaysia. This includes helping them better understand the local culture, which plays an essential component of maintaining the security of an organization. Additionally, Scanit will help its customers recruit and train local talent, in line with their security expectations.

'We believe that an understanding of the local market and culture is vital to our success. That is why we have been working with local engineers and our local partner, Hack In The Box Sdn Bhd, to ensure a smooth entry into the Malaysian market,' said Michaux.

'We feel that we have the required mix of talented engineers to allow us to enter the Malaysian market. The team that we plan to have here would be a mix of Malaysian, Saudi and European staffers, out of which at least seven will be local engineers,' he added.

Scanit is currently the trusted security advisor for 28 banks, nine regional telecom operators and four airlines in the Middle East.
