Intel Corporation and Edu Systems International sign MoU to launch skoool agreement

In a bid to continue enhancing the benefits of localized content and multi-media technology, and to advance student education in Egypt, Intel has teamed up with Edu Systems International (ESI) to sign a Memorandum of Understanding of the skoool Interactive Learning and Teaching Technology.

This agreement is part of Intel's involvement in the Egyptian Education Initiative launched at the World Economic Forum in Sharm El Sheikh 2006.

Working with key local companies and the Ministry of Education in Egypt, Intel aims to customize, deploy, and develop its skoool™ Interactive Learning and Teaching Technology program in Egypt.

'Our main priority in providing Egyptian students with an enhanced e-learning experience is that our skoool technology content is aligned with the school curriculum here in Egypt,'



said Dr. Khaled Elamrawi, Intel General Manager, Egypt, Levant and North Africa at a signing ceremony which took place today at the Intel office. 'We are pleased to work with the Egyptian government to up-level the education curricula at schools and to integrate tailor-made local content solutions. Through a sustained public-private partnership with educators and governments in more than 50 countries, we aim to deliver programs that improve the effective use of technology to enhance 21st century skills, and encourage excellence in mathematics, science, and engineering,' he added.

The skoool™ Interactive Learning and Teaching Technology program is designed to exemplify the benefits of high quality multi-media technology and to stimulate wider use of these technologies in an effort to expand and improve student education worldwide. More than one million students and teachers use this Web resource to explore key math and science concepts. skoool™ is currently offered in Ireland, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Thailand, Turkey, and the United Kingdom, with Egypt being the next spot that will offer the program.

Intel and ESI (EduSystems International) have plans to implement in Egypt an Egyptian version of Skoool(tm) Education Technology web tool to be termed skoool(tm).eg for learning and teaching. 'ESI strongly emphasizes capacity building and corporate social responsibility in its relationship with the community,' says Dr. Hassan El-Kalla, EST Chairman. 'That's why the launch of skoool(tm).eg here in Egypt is a very important step for us.'

Through the Intel World Ahead Program, Intel aims to enhance lives by accelerating access to uncompromised technology for everyone, anywhere in the world. Intel focuses its efforts to advance progress in four areas namely accessibility, content, education and connectivity.
