With the support of the Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing, major organizer Haughton International Fairs plans to stage the event at the Madinat Jumeirah, putting some of the world's finest arts and antiques on display in the region for the first time.

Art and Antiques Dubai will offer connoisseurs and investors in the Middle East region an unparalleled opportunity to view and purchase a selection of the world's finest art and antiques. One of the distinctive factors of Haughton International Fairs' events globally is the quality of the work on display, and organisers are confident that the Dubai Fair will match and even exceed this high standard.

Dubai was chosen as the host city for this major event because of its increasingly important and expanding international profile of the world art stage, underpinned by its development as a major financial centre in the Middle East.

'Dubai is ideally placed to become a focal point for the most exciting art markets in the world,' said Khalid bin Sulayem, Director General of Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing. 'We hope the fair will play a positive role in encouraging art in the emirate and bringing art lovers from different parts of the world to Dubai.'

Collecting categories expected at Art and Antiques Dubai include Islamic works of art; arms and armor; silver; antique and modern jewellery; a broad range of furniture and decorative arts; and fine art, including Middle Eastern, Indian, and Western paintings, drawings, and sculpture.

International art dealers will be joined by specialists from the Middle East, North African and India, according to Giles Haughton, event director.

'Many exhibitors and dealers will already know Haughtons' reputation for producing top-class events in the United States and United Kingdom, and we now look forward to welcoming regional exhibitors to participate in a Haughton event much closer to home,' said Haughton.

'Art and Antiques Dubai will stand out for the superior quality of the works of art, and for the cultural buzz it will share with other Haughton fairs. The presentation of our fairs is extremely important to us and Art and Antiques Dubai will be organised according to the same exacting standards,'

he concluded.
