Dubai Export Development Corporation appoints new CEO

Under the directive of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of The Executive Council, Saed Mohammed Al Awadi has been appointed as Chief Executive Officer of the Dubai Export Development Corporation (DEDC).

Established in Dubai in 2006, DEDC is responsible for the expanding sector's development in the UAE, opening new markets for export and encouraging local industries to increase investments.

"Saed's in-depth local market expertise and knowledge equip him with the advantage to drive DEDC's growth initiatives forward. Combined with his proven leadership capabilities and ability to forge strong partnerships, we have every confidence Saed will propel DEDC's expansion strategies in line with our objectives," said Khaled Al Kassim, Chairman for DEDC.

With over 18 years local governmental experience, Al Awadi began his career with Dubai Municipality in 1988, where he held various administration and technical positions. He then joined the Ports, Customs and Freezone Corporation and was promoted to Chief Operating Officer of the Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) - the regulatory arm of Dubai World. His responsibilities at EHS included managing a technical and administration team of over 200 engineers and technicians.

Al Awadi holds a degree in Chemical and Petrol Engineering, with a Masters in Environment Management. He was recently awarded a certificate in Leadership and Management by the Dubai Leaders Programme - Wharton Business School, Pennsylvania.
