The technically sophisticated Sarcar watches now adorn Damas stores

  • PRESS RELEASE

Once again, magic is in the air since Sarcar's impressive technical feat is presenting a stunning visual delight at Damas, the leading international Jewellery retailer in the Middle East.

Sarcar produces limited and numbered pieces per year. The Managing Director, Maya Koenig, believes that is the right strategy for the company to continue. She explains: "That's a perfect reason for us to stay small because that's how we ensure our exclusivity and focus. At Sarcar, our mission is to create dreams for the most unique and most beautiful timepieces you will ever wish to possess and we then let you bring such dreams to reality."

Guided by a keen sense of aesthetics, Carlo Sarzano, founder of Sarcar watches, started to conceive jewellery watches which, although naturally functional, were above all distinguished by their beauty and their exclusivity. Sarcar watches thus became known for 'reflecting inner beauty'. The watch brand carries out strict quality controls at every stage of production and thus is known to offer something really different which also happens to be one of its sales arguments.

Commenting on the latest collections of Sarcar watches, Mohammed Tawheed Abdullah, Managing Director of Damas, said: "The tastes for innovation displayed by the founder and his successors - eloquently confirmed by Galaxy and Magic Moon collections, followed in 2004 by Solitaire and Moonlight - have progressively led the brand to develop in parallel a line of complication watches. Last year's launch of Maestro and this year's introduction of the Bise dual time-zone models are both perfect illustrations of the company's determination to express its technical expertise as well as its flair for design. Thus it gives us great satisfaction to add it on our long list of world renowned and distinguished brands."

Sarcar's Solitaire jewellery watches are characterised by an aura of apparent simplicity concealing an entirely original system consisting of round over 1 carat brilliant-cut diamond, set on a décor that is itself gem-set and revolving on an axis above an entirely pave dial. The setting of this extremely pure stone was designed to let the light shine unobstructed through each of its facets. Thus brilliantly reflecting the stones around, this magnificent gem sparkles at each turn of the wrist.

The various rotating elements of this collection have no incidence on the movement. They are a part of the design and represent the aesthetic concept which characterises this collection. The ornamental rotations are based on a place foreseen for that purpose; the movements with ball bearing allow the various rotations of the watch.

The Gent models of Solitaire collection are available in both quartz and automatic movements. The Lady model has a quartz movement.

Abstract is a watch provided with movable decorative elements including a circumferential ring having an off-centre body and freely rotatably mounted on a ball bearing. The ball bearing is located in the centre of the watch concentrically with the axis of the watch hands. The ring is connected to a plate supported on said bearing and said ring and said plate are rigidly connected via a plurality of arms so that they rotate together. The second movable decorative element is provided in a holder on a second bearing supported on the circumferential ring. The holder is freely rotatable and can rotate through 360° together with the ring about the axis of the watch hands. Said holder is also freely rotatable about an axis perpendicular to the plane of the second bearing.

With the Royal Solitaire, Sarcar presents an exclusive version of this scintillating timepiece, issued in a limited numbered series of just eight. This time, the understated elegance of crocodile leather has given way to the splendour of gold and the watch is thus endowed with a bracelet, bezel and lugs entirely set by hand with baguette-cut diamonds.

The Magic World is distinguished by an extremely subtle blend of ingenuity and imagination, of inimitable know-how and technical sophistication. Entirely set with gems from bezel to dial and right through to the inner bezel, ring and even the rotor, it is endowed with an original dial: while the centre reminds one of the yin and yang, symbols of serenity, the rim is graced with 4 rotating decors- Sarcar's brand signature-which are adorned with four precious stones: a diamond, a sapphire, an emerald and a ruby.

Mohammed Tawheed Abdullah continues: "The originality lies in the fact that each stone conceals three other stones which means that by spinning in an entirely random manner, it reveals another. To see them in action, all one needs to do is simply wear the watch and allow the stone to spin in time with wrist movements. The effect is simple but stunning. And the Sarcar designers have decided to extend the magic to the back of the case: through the transparent sapphire case-back, in addition to the gem-set rotor, one can also view the other facets of the stones."

The Magic World collection contains two different masses. One of the masses allows the function of the movement and the other the rotation of the precious stones.

The radiantly sparkling perfect oval of the Moonlight Galaxy is the most prestigious expression of its source of inspiration, the Moonlight collection. Characterised by gently rounded curves, it embodies the essence of elegant femininity. A ring of diamonds provides a luxurious jewel-case for a scintillating solitaire diamond. These refined jewellery-watch models are fitting with a gem-set bezel and a diamond-pave or mother-of-pearl dial.

On the latter versions, the hours are indicated on a matching sub dial by means of diamond hour-makers or Roman numerals, while the entirely pave model is graced with four sapphires or rubies. Available in red or white gold versions, it is fitted with a choice of crocodile leather or satin strap, or a hand-crafted gold bracelet. This exceptional watch is the result of a close collaboration of the watchmaker's team at Sarcar and a technical designer team that has been working with them for more than 30 years.

The Carrousel watch is decorated with 12 solitaires of 0.50 carat each. The rotation of the 12 diamonds is only decorative and do not affect the movement of the watch. This model also has rotating elements - this time not inside the case but the case itself and the beautiful pave dial is surrounded by three rings set with coloured diamonds.

Sarcar watches are available at Damas Les Exclusive Boutiques in Saks Fifth Avenue, Burjuman; Emirates Towers; Burj Al Arab; and Mall of the Emirates.
