Gulf Air joins Onam celebrations

Gulf Air will be celebrating Kerala's biggest and joyous festival Onam, by serving the traditional Onam meal onboard from 23 to 31 August to on its flights to Trivandrum and Kochi.

Onam, the annual harvest festival, is celebrated mainly in the Indian state of Kerala and by Keralites across the globe. Onasadhya or the Onam lunch is the most delicious part of the festival when families come together and enjoy eating together.

"We understand how important the Onam festival is to the people of Kerala," says Gulf Air Executive Vice President Marketing and Sales Lee Shave.

"Bahrain is a second-home to thousands of Keralites and, as the national carrier flying to these two cities for decades, we are pleased to provide a start-off to their festival by serving their favourite meal onbaord.

The special festive-meal will contain Avial, Erissery, Sambar served with red rice - a speciality from Kerala and a traditional dessert Ada Pradhaman to complete the lunch. Non- vegetarians need not worry as they have the option of Chicken Curry and Kerala Parathas, if they wish.

"Though the onboard meal may not be as elaborate as the traditional Onasadhya they eat at home, we have ensured the most important dishes are served to create the festive mood before they head home," Mr. Shave concluded.

First and Business Class passengers will have the option of choosing the Onam special meal or the regular meal.
