Successful cooperation between DTCM and Jumeirah Group

18 Omani national students have successfully completed a comprehensive training program provided by Jumeirah Group within its various operational properties in collaboration of with the Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM).
Only seven students underwent the training a year ago. The training is part of the continuous efforts towards providing training and development as well as job opportunities for young AGCC nationals from neighbouring countries like the Sultanate of Oman.
This demonstrates the resounding success of the program, collaboration between the two sister countries and the support provided by DTCM, especially Mr. Ibrahim Yaqoot, Executive Director, Human Resources & Training Solutions and Ms. Nadia Salem, Coordinator to Executive Director Human Resources and Training Solutions, and Jumeirah Group (Mr. Mike Newnham - Chief Human Resources Officer, Mr. Ian Edgar, Director of Learning and Development, and Ms. Ghada Zakaria, Assistant Training Manager).
Jumeirah Group said it looks forward to continuous growth and partnership between DTCM and the Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) as well as the two countries in its future endeavors towards providing post-graduation job opportunities for the students. Discussions and terms are already in process and underway.
Earlier this year, a delegation DTCM visited Sultanate of Oman and held discussions with the Sultan Qaboos University management about the training programmes the tourism industry. Several topics were discussed at the meeting, including the training programmes offered by the DTCM to the hospitality industry and students during the summer vacation.
Last year, the department invited 25 students from the Sultan Al Qaboos University to be a part of its summer training programme. This was the first time that the DTCM has launched the initiative in an effort to enhance cooperation between Dubai and other AGCC countries in the tourism sector.
