"It has been a remarkable two years of hard work, innovation and unprecedented success. In that short span of time, we have managed to secure a significant share of the UAE market and strengthen Injazat Data Systems' image as a reliable IT partner in the public and private sectors. Our dramatic growth also reflects the unabated progress of the UAE as it transitions into a knowledge-based economy, which has resulted in a surge in demand for IT-managed services," said Ibrahim Mohamed Lari, CEO, Injazat Data Systems.
Injazat Data Systems jumped three places to reach third position in 2006, from sixth position in 2005 in terms of market share among IT services companies in the UAE. According to IDC, Injazat Data Systems raised its share to 6.3 per cent in 2006 from 4.5 per cent in 2005.
A dominating performance in Information System Outsourcing was one of the highlights in 2006, where Injazat Data Systems and one of its shareholders, EDS, combined for the lion's share of 62.3 per cent. Injazat Data Systems topped the list in Hosted Application Management with a share of 57.5 per cent, and Information System Consulting with a 12.1 per cent clip. In Network and Desktop Outsourcing, Injazat Data Systems had an 18.8 per cent share and recorded a 15.3 per cent share in Hosting Infrastructure Services.
"Injazat Data Systems has continued to expand its assets and resources through sizeable investments, expansion initiatives and strategic partnerships, maximising on our strengths and optimizing our growth opportunities. We expect to further improve our market standing in view of the increasing expenditure on IT services,"
Lari added.
IDC has reported that the IT outsourcing industry in the UAE is expected to grow by 16 per cent in 2007, topping USD 94.54 million from USD 81.27 million in 2006. Over a five-year period until 2011, the industry is expected to achieve a healthy compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 13.2 per cent. The overall IT services expenditure, on the other hand, is predicted to increase 9.6 per cent in 2007 to a record USD 556.56 million, while it will have a CAGR of 7.6 per cent from 2006-2011.
Local governments combined for a total spending of USD 102.78 million on IT services in 2006, a 20.2 per cent clip that was the biggest among vertical markets. In tandem with the central government, total government spending reached nearly USD 134.74 million, or 26.5 per cent of total IT services expenditure.
Injazat Data Systems is also leveraging its reputation in the private sector, aiming to expand its portfolio particularly in markets such as banking, telecommunications and transportation, which were among the top five IT services spenders in 2006.
Established in early 2005, Injazat Data Systems is an Abu Dhabi-based joint venture between Mubadala Development Company, a wholly owned investment vehicle of the government of the emirate of Abu Dhabi; and Electronic Data Systems (EDS), a global IT and business process services giant.
