Work on Ajman's new sewerage system is progressing on schedule, with Ajman Sewerage (Pvt) Co Ltd having finished construction of all the primary and secondary pipelines in the Al Hamidiya and Al Jurf areas of the emirate.

The completion of this phase of the network of pipes is critical to allow connections from properties in the area to the main network.

Construction work has been done at different depths and follows the best international standards of quality in terms of materials and procedures to ensure that Ajman enjoys a well developed infrastructure that will enhance the quality of life in the emirate.

Completion of the latest phase comes shortly after the official opening of the first pumping station that marked the halfway stage of the project which is on track to be fully operational by the end of next year.

A precise schedule has been prepared for all the emirate's areas to connect to the main sewerage system, which will serve 75,000 homes and businesses on 12,500 plots of land when fully operational, processing 50,000 cubic metres of sewage into irrigation quality water every day.

Now that the first pipelines have been completed, property owners are urged to install their interior connections so that no delays are incurred in finishing the balance of the project. If owners fail to make connections on time, contractors must be diverted later to do the work, thus affecting progress with other stages.

Under the project theme of 'Go green, Ajman', the output of recycled water has the potential to transform large tracts of the emirate to grassed or arable land.
