The visit, organized by the Trade and Development Council of Hong Kong, aimed at learning about Dubai Chamber's experience in serving the business community and the development features of Dubai's economy.

Buamim welcomed the Hong Kong delegation stressing Dubai Chamber's effort in promoting Dubai as an international business destination in the region, and in developing the commercial sectors of the emirate through providing value-added services, receiving major business delegations and missions from all over the world, and arranging networking meetings for them with the business community in Dubai.

"The visit of the Hong Kong trade delegation helps strengthening the economic ties between Dubai and Hong Kong, especially that both cities enjoy strategic locations and distinguished business activities making them two of the largest business hubs in the Middle East,"

said Buamim.

He highlighted the interest of Dubai Chamber in urging the local business community to enhance their relations with their Hong Kong counterparts. Dubai's non-oil trade with Hong Kong reached AED 3.5 billion in 2006, as more than 68 Chinese companies are working in Dubai and registered at Dubai Chamber.

Honorable Vincent Fang G. Kang, Chairman of the Panel on Commerce & Industry in Hong Kong, expressed his government's interest in enhancing ties of economic and commercial cooperation with Dubai through exploring areas of mutual investment and activating ties between the business communities in both cities. He added that the international reputation Dubai has gained in terms of international business practices in this region has prompted the business community in Hong Kong to expand their relations with their counterparts in Dubai.

"The economic development of the UAE, and Dubai in particular, has drawn the attention of the international economic entities due to the outstanding efforts and strong will of the leadership to develop the country and enhance its economic potentials," said Honorable Kang.
