While 80% of the newly admitted students come from Dubai, the rest are from neighboring Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah, and Fujairah.
New students will start the new academic year on September 2 with an orientation day introducing them to the College, its facilities, faculty and staff members of their departments. Parents of newly admitted students were invited to join their daughters for the welcome session during which DWC's Student Services and Academic Departments provide all necessary information regarding college and academic life on campus. Reflecting on the quality of applicants for this year, Wendy Farrel, Academic Services Supervisor, noted that 'this year there are more than ninety students who will go directly to Year One which is significantly higher than the numbers in previous years.' The majority of DWC's newly admitted students are graduates of UAE government schools and will be joining business, communication technology, education, health science, and information technology programs.
Last year, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, approved additional funding of AED 70,000,000 to admit a total of 1,555 students to HCT campuses throughout the United Arab Emirates.
