Each year, the magazine conducts a survey of hospital reputations among a national sample of board-certified specialty physicians. The survey also includes an analysis of objective indicators including success in treating a variety of demanding illnesses, number of procedures within a specialty and the availability of advanced services such as robotic surgery.

"As The Johns Hopkins Hospital officially enshrines a tradition of medical excellence for the 17th year in a row, Tawam Hospital staff and the UAE community will benefit from Hopkins' proven expertise in clinical care, evidence-based practice models, and medical education and research," said Michael Heindel, Tawam's CEO.

By teaming up with Johns Hopkins Medicine, Tawam Hospital is paving the way for state-of-the-art health services in the UAE. The affiliation includes standardizing and advancing the hospital's oncology, cardiology, neonatology and paediatric services, including minimally invasive procedures such as interventional catheterization and angioplasty.

"The link with Hopkins has already proved extremely beneficial to us and we are confident that it will advance and refine healthcare services in the Arabian Gulf region in general and the UAE in particular," said Heindel. "Tawam and Hopkins share a common vision of raising the quality of medical services by adopting the most advanced methodologies. We appreciate the UAE Government's support towards developing Hopkins research programmes in this country."
