Bahrain City Centre, developed by the well known Majid Al Futtaim Group (MAF), will be the first integrated leisure and shopping destination in the Kingdom of Bahrain, and second largest in the Gulf region.

Located in the heart of Manama, the three level shopping complex with a total built up area of 450,000 square meters will offer over 360 stores which will appeal to a wide range of shoppers and visitors. The Bahrain City Centre is expected to attract investment to the kingdom Of Bahrain, and raise its profile as a major regional shopping destination.

'Bahrainis, residents and visitors will enjoy a unique shopping and leisure experience each time they visit the mall,' said Maher Al Shaer - Deputy Chairman - MAF Bahrain

'With a wide variety of outlets, Bahrain City Centre will have something for everyone, young and old. Whether they are shopping for the latest high quality products, dining out or if they are just looking for a good time, Bahrain City Centre will have it all.'

MAF primarily required high efficiency chillers, to produce chilled water at the lowest total cost that would result in a high return on investment. In order to meet the criteria set by the client, MAF Dalkia Middle East, the project owner representative, performed a twenty year life cycle cost analysis, to determine the true lowest total life cycle cost of ownership systems for the owner.

Dalkia is known to be one of the world's leading energy and facilities management companies. It provides a range of services designed to optimize the costs involved in managing the life cycle of major commercial and industrial buildings in the region.

Trane systems proved to be the most energy efficient with the highest return on investment. Trane recommended and provided its CenTraVac EarthWise™ Duplex Centrifugal chillers, which are the most energy efficient systems on the market today.

Trane will supply 7 of these chillers, each of which delivers 2,133 tons of cooling and when fully commissioned, the chillers will provide 14,931 tons of district cooling for the project. These same chillers have been installed in many of Dubai's most prominent buildings including the Burj Dubai, Mall Of The Emirates, and Discovery Gardens, as well as retail facilities around the world.

The main contract of this project was awarded to Cebarco-WCT, and the MEP Contract was awarded to Voltas Limited.

Trane has provided heating, ventilation and air-conditioning systems to customers in the Middle East, Africa and India for nearly 50 years; enhancing their indoor and outdoor environments through improved indoor air quality, dehumidification, moisture control, acoustics and energy efficient performance.
