The awards, the first of their kind in Dubai in that the winners will be chosen by an independent international judging panel, are expected to be highly sought after, given that they will be presented at the Leaders in Dubai Business Forum 2007 gala dinner on November 18.

Event organiser Alan Kelly says the winners will receive their awards from one of the international keynote speakers, which this year include Kofi Annan, Sir Richard Branson and Professor Mohammed Yunus.

"The presentations will be made in front of more than 600 of the region's leading professionals and companies, speakers and attendees at the Leaders in Dubai Business Forum, senior Government officials and special VIP industry guests," he said. "It doesn't come any better than that!"

The 12 categories open for public nomination are:
Best E-Government Programme Award
International Trade Award
Marketing Excellence Award
Recommended Employer Award
Environmental Contribution Award
Corporate Social Responsibility Award
Best Small Business of the Year Award
Best Family Business of the Year Award
Best New Business of the Year Award
Entrepreneur of the Year Award
Businessman and Businesswoman of the Year Awards

In addition to the above awards, IIR Middle East will be making special presentations to two people considered to have made outstanding contributions in their respective fields: The awards are for the Outstanding international contribution by a Middle East business leader and Lifetime Award for Leadership Excellence.

Nominations for the public awards close on October 18, with the international judging panel short listing the top three in each category for announcement of the winners at the gala dinner.
