Dubai World honours UAE nationals summer trainees

Dubai World, the investment holding company of Dubai Government recently organized an event for honouring 30 UAE national students who participated in the internship programme at various Dubai world's companies during the summer vacations.

Dubai World's internship programme is in line with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, of developing national expertise and strengthening the national human resources, and is part of the group's emiratization strategy and its commitment to building the national sense of responsibility and contributing towards empowering UAE economic and human resources sector.

The training programme was held at different departments of Dubai World and it involved 30 young national students ranging from grade 10 to graduate students. They were engaged during the summer holidays in training programmes in various sections including Information Technology, recruitment, finance, medical, statistics and fire sections at EHS, the Environment, Health and Safety regulatory arm of Dubai World.

Speaking on the event, Ms. Khawla Ali al Serkal, Head of Human Resources at shared services department said: "We attribute our success to our innovative strategy in managing human resources. The main challenge many corporations face is linking the right competency to the right position. We continuously supervise and train our employees to maximize their learning opportunities because we leverage the workforce to meet the global standards and expectations."

"We believe that educating our youth helps set our country's future. Dubai World aims to guide national youths in structuring their knowledge in the work field and in enhancing their awareness, so that they become integral elements of the nation. We teach them that the more knowledgeable they are, the wider the spectrum of rewarding opportunities they will be able to take advantage of," Mr. Al Serkal added.

Mr. Jassim al Balooshi, one of the trainees honoured during the ceremony commented: "Dubai World has given me an encouraging, gratifying and diversified environment to work in. They provided me with comfortable and adequate training programme."

The event marks the end of the summer training session held at different departments of Dubai World. Six of the trainees were honoured for their distinguished performance, and in return, the trainees thanked Dubai World for its help and support during the programme.
