Dubai eGovernment partners with 28 entities for interactive GITEX 2007 showcase

Dubai eGovernment, a pioneering initiative in the region to provide government eServices, has announced that 28 government departments and ministries will be actively involved in its comprehensive presentation at GITEX Technology Week 2007 on Stand D8-1, Hall 8 of the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre from September 8 to 12.

Dubai eGovernment will host the Federal UAE eGovernment Program as four UAE government ministries are set to join its stand at the biggest IT exhibition in the Middle East.

'In just six years of operation, Dubai eGovernment has succeeded in accelerating Dubai's transformation to a digital society, positioning the emirate as a pioneer in creating a knowledge-based economy. Our achievements are in line with the strategic plan of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai, who has envisioned a 50 per cent customer adoption of eServices,' said Salem Khamis Al Shair, Director, eServices, Dubai eGovernment.

'GITEX will be an excellent platform to showcase our groundbreaking initiatives and create awareness among all residents about the numerous benefits of the eServices that have been established. We are looking forward to a splendid event with the participation of government departments and the UAE Federal eGovernment Program, as we believe that we have a role to play in maximising efficiency of federal government processes and also enhancing the mechanism of cooperation between the federal and local governments,'

The government departments that will join Dubai eGovernment at GITEX are Dubai Civil Aviation, Dubai Tourism and Commerce Marketing, Dubai Land Department, Awqaf and Minor Affairs Foundation, Dubai Economic Department, eTQM College, Roads and Transport Authority, Tanmia, Dubai Public Prosecution, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, Dubai Health Authority, Dubai Police, Dubai Courts, Dubai Municipality, Dubai Media Inc. ,Department of Information Resources Planning (Ruler's Court), Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Entrepreneur Forum, Dubai Airport Free Zone Authority, Protocol and Guest House Department, Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department, and Dubai Naturalization and Residency Department.

The participating UAE entities are Ministry of Development for Government Sector, Ministry of Finance and Industry, Ministry of Environment and Water, Ministry of Public Works, and Zakat Fund.

The exhibition will include a network of workstations that offer real simulation of all eServices provided through Dubai eGovernment's portal www.dubai.ae. Dubai eGovernment has also launched the web portal http://gitex.dubai.ae dedicated to its activities during the exhibition.

Originally launched as a payment solution for government and semi-government departments, ePay has now been extended to the private sector, providing an easy, cash-less payment solution to a whole range of purchases.

The Bayt Al Khabrah service aims to invest in and share the experience and knowledge gained by Dubai eGovernment over the years with ministries and government branches in other emirates. One of the successful initiatives under the Bayt Al Khabrah program is the recently launched website 'Made in the UAE', which aims to market national products domestically and internationally through the internet.

Other eServices up for demonstration are the Land Department's Malik card and Owner Portal, which facilitates issuance of maps, property appraisal, replacement of deed of title, update of personal information, inquiry about properties and process of other eServices. The Dubai Airport Free Zone Authority, for its part, will present its Tas'heel System, which integrates in one online solution all major services essential to the operation of all companies based in the free zone.

The Dubai Civil Aviation, on the other hand, will showcase its Airport Operations Data System, the Al Majlis special check-in facility, Airport Passes Management System, Executive Flight Services website, SMS Flights Notification, SMS Flight Tracking, Flight Information System, Weather Information Services, enhanced eServices Airport Car Parking system, and the professional voice-activated interface Voice Portal.
