- PRESS RELEASE
mtc touch, with the collaboration of the Youth Association for Social Awareness YASA, announced the launching of the new road safety campaign entitled 'Secure your way' on Wednesday 6th of September, 2007.
A year ago, mtc touch had become a major sponsor of the National campaign - initiated by YASA - a move which aimed at highlighting the need to comply with public safety and prevention measures on the roads. The collaboration between mtc touch and YASA has generated several initiatives and awareness activities including the joint outdoor road safety campaign, the 6th national conference for road safety as well as other awareness initiatives such as the launching of two publications - the "Driver Guide" and the "Road Safety in Lebanon" - and the production of Video Clips shown in Universities to raise awareness among youth about safe and correct driving.
Following the announcement of the road safety campaign, "Secure your way", mtc touch General Manager Mr. Mohammad Shabib explained: "being a mobile operator, mtc touch puts enormous efforts to provide its subscribers with the best innovative services and to improve the telecom sector in Lebanon; However, the company's strategy aiming at becoming an intrinsic part of the Lebanese society, encourages us to seek appropriate opportunities to support humanitarian and social causes. Our role is not only restricted to providing diversified mobile telecom services; we also hold ourselves accountable for citizens' safety on the roads, bearing in mind the risks engendered, by the usage of mobile phones while driving, on the life of the driver himself and on the life of others."
Mr. Shabib added: "Our strategic collaboration with the YASA association, which has given birth to initiatives like the "Secure your way" campaign, helps us shed some light on the need to comply with road safety measures such as wearing seatbelts as long as the car is on the move, which can considerably ease the impact of an accident."
Mr. Shabib concluded: "mtc touch is proud to collaborate with the YASA association because we believe in the nobility and importance of its mission. We will work hard and persevere by capitalizing on awareness campaigns which inform citizens about safe driving and preventive measures to be taken on the roads. We hope that we will be able to contribute in raising the public's opinion awareness about the need to comply with traffic regulations and respect the law in order to stop the human bleeding on the Lebanese roads."
From his part, the founder of YASA, Mr Ziad Akl said: "the collaboration between mtc touch and YASA had a major role in launching several efficient new awareness campaigns and initiatives, including the intense and vast guidance campaigns which were held in schools and universities in different Lebanese regions."
Mr. Akl finally hoped the "Lebanese would positively respond to the new "Secure your way" campaign, by complying with the safety measures and wearing the seatbelt which largely decrease the death toll on the roads in Lebanon."
