Dubai Government to train HR officers

The Dubai Government has signed an agreement with the Australian Human Resources Institute (AHRI) to offer training to HR officers at various departments.

More than 120 HR officers are expected to benefit from the diploma programme in the first stage,

Meanwhile, the Dubai Executive Council has pledged to allocate AED2 million annually for the training and development of human resources through a number of programmes and specialized courses.

Ahmed Bin Byat, Secretary General of the Dubai Executive Council, said: "This agreement is in line with the Dubai Strategy Plan 2015 human resources objectives as announced by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai. It also follows the directive of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed, Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council, to develop UAE national workforce and to raise especially the performance levels of HR officers."

The AHRI diploma is one of the most specialised programmes in human resources management worldwide. The institute is the only body authorised by the Australian Government to adopt programmes and certification for human resource management in Australian universities .

The 60-hour AHRI programme spread over the whole year is designed to allow employees the opportunity to receive training and gain skills without causing any work delay.

The programme will cover every aspect of Human Resources starting from planning, recruitment and selection, training and development, performance management and linking strategic objectives, performance measurement, and ways to develop HR services. The application part of the programme will include case studies on HR laws applied in Dubai as well as projects and research papers to suit the needs of individual departments.

A number of AHRI representatives will work with the HR department of the Dubai Executive Council during this month to create the modules and develop the programme.

The training and educational programme will he organised at the Dubai Institute for Human Resource Development (DIHRD).
