The leading Middle Eastern Communications event, GSM 3G included more than 3,000 decision-makers from the leading operators, vendors, application developer and solution provider companies in the Middle Eastern and global communications industry.

As a main sponsor of the GSM 3G Middle East, HP showcased its latest convergent charging solutions, the most advanced solutions for billing systems. HP's convergence solution helps telecom service providers deliver interactive and multimedia services to end users and apply unified and flexible tariff plans across network services.

In addition, it enables service providers to manage the new wave of rich voice, data ad content services that consumers want through rating and charging subscribers in real-time for voice and transaction-based services, which include email, MMS, WAP and WLAN usage as well as Web browsing and m-commerce.

Amin Kayal, Communication, Media and Entertainment Manager for HP Middle East, said,

'As the mobile telecommunications industry is rapidly approaching an advanced stage of maturity, with a subscriber base increasingly looking for more sophisticated solutions and services, we continue to invest and develop products that can best help the ever more dynamic needs of our customers. HP has accumulated the extensive expertise and solutions that telecom service providers need to satisfy the needs of their subscribers and the solutions announced today are the latest proof of HP leadership.'

Kayal added, 'With 30 years of experience in telecom and over 500 solutions partners, HP is able to offer its telecom customers and service providers advanced products, solutions and global services that help them meet the voice, data and multimedia needs of millions of broadband and wireless subscribers. Convergent charging would help them in doing so by enabling them to reduce IT complexity by integrating legacy systems into streamlined convergent solutions.'

Moreover, service providers will be able to support customization of services to a 'market of one' by decoupling the service portfolio from charging methods.

HP also offers its media and entertainment customers a different set of products and solutions, which include solutions for content creation, content management and distribution as well as specialized media storage. HP also provides the personal devices that are used for these solutions.

HP's sponsorship of the GSM 3G Middle East & Gulf comes as part of HP's commitment towards driving business of service providers towards further growth. Also, through its innovative solutions, HP aims to help service providers face the upcoming challenges in the rapidly changing telecom market.
