GITEX Shopper & Consumer Electronics Expo 2007 opens

The 17th edition of the Gulf's leading consumer technology platform - GITEX Shopper & Consumer Electronics Expo 2007 - was inaugurated today by HE Abdul Rahman Mohammed Al Owais, Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development, at the Airport Expo Dubai.

HE Abdul Rahman Mohammed Al Owais and his VIP entourage toured the Show and visited some of the major exhibitors to view the latest in consumer electronics.

Crowds flocked into the Airport Expo Dubai, where the Gulf's ultimate electronic consumer goods opened in an atmosphere of great excitement and anticipation. From last year's bumper edition GITEX Shopper 2007 has grown in all respects. This year over 170 vendors are representing 20,000 products over 26,000sqm of the Airport Expo Dubai.

Visitors on the show's opening day reacted enthusiastically to the many spectacular launches and offers featuring in this year's GITEX Shopper. There was special interest in the opportunity to win valuable prizes, including a Peugeot 207 CC Sport, in the GITEX Shopper Mega Draw.

"We continue to strive to make GITEX Shopper deliver value for money combined with an exciting atmosphere. We are looking forward to another outstanding edition," said the DWTC Director General Helal Saeed Al Marri, Director General of Dubai World Trade Centre.

Among the industry leaders competing to provide the most innovative technology and outstanding value for money at GITEX Shopper 2007 are Axiom, Canon, Cellucom, Cosmos, Emax, Emirates Computers, Harman House, HP, Jacky's, Jumbo, JVC, Microsoft, Nokia, Plug-Ins, Samsung and Sharaf DG.

The comprehensive range of consumer goods on sale in GITEX Shopper 2007 features laptops, PCs, mobile phones, cameras, gaming & entertainment, consumer electronics, home entertainment, office automation and a host of new leisure products.

The show will be open from 6 - 12 September from 11am - 10pm. Friday from 3pm - 10pm.

Tickets are available in advance from Time Out Tickets (www.timeouttickets.com/Tel: 800 4669) at a promotional rate of AED 20 per person, per entry right until the end of the show. Tickets will also be sold at the venue at AED 25 per person, per entry.

Free parking will be available for visitors at the venue as well as the new parking in the Sheikh Hamdan parking area opposite Gulf Indian School with free shuttle bus service to and from the venue.

There will be free shuttle buses running from Lulu Centre - Karama, Qusais and Deira branches and Al Falah Plaza - Sharjah to Airport Expo Dubai during the show from 10am - 11pm.
