'Reality Check 2.0' at Dubai Internet City Community Zone during GITEX 2007

Reality Check 2.0, a series of high-powered panel discussions on the development of information and communications technology (ICT) in the region, will be held at the Dubai Internet City Community Zone at GITEX Technology Week from 8-12 September.

Moderated by star Dubai Eye 103.8 FM radio anchor and Business Breakfast presenter Brandy Scott, the panel discussions, featuring industry leaders from the Middle East, will be held every day during the five-day event at the DIC Community Zone's presentation area. Open to all GITEX visitors, each session will comprise a 60-minute discussion followed by a question and answer session.

The discussions, to be held for the second time this year, will focus on the future of various sectors including Telecommunication, IT Entrepreneurship, Digital Cities, Energy and Green buildings as well as Young National Entrepreneurs.

Jamal Abdul Salam, Executive Director of Dubai Internet City, said: "Reality Check proved to be a real success last year, and offered valuable insights from key industry players and decision makers. The show has been conceived as a forum to discuss key issues to determine the future course of ICT sector. Our objective is to bring together a wide variety of perspectives from the fast maturing ICT industry. We believe the show will spark new ideas, leading to further development of the region's ICT industry."

Talking on the future of telecommunication this year will be Osman Sultan, CEO of du; Mohamed Al Ghanim, Director General, TRA; and Ahmad Abdulkarim Julfar, CEO of Etisalat.

The discussion on IT Entrepreneurship will have speakers including Ahmed Hameed Al Mazroui, Chairman of the board of trustees, ICT Fund; Abdul Baset Al Janahi, Director, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Establishment for Young Entrepreneurs; Feroz Sanaulla, Director, Intel Fund Capital; and Morten Kvammen, Head of private equity, Delta Capital.

The panel on 'Digital Cities' will include Ghazi Atallah, Senior Advisor, NexGen; Young Chu, General Manager, KT; and Amr Salem, Director, Connected Real Estate, Cisco.

Energy and Green buildings panel discussion will have speakers including Dilip Rahulan, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Pacific Control; Ali Bin Towaih, Director, Energy and Environment Park (ENPARK); Mario Seneviratne, Director, Green Technologies; and Parbissh Thomas, Manager, GE Solar.

The panel on Young National Entrepreneurs will host Khalil Al Mansouri, Vice President, eMart; Mohammed Harib, Creator and Director, Fareej; Alanood Badr, CEO, Fozaza; and Abdulla Al Awar, Managing Director, Retail Technologies.

The Dubai Internet City Community Zone at GITEX Technology Week will be located in Concourse 2, between Exhibition Hall 8 and the Sheikh Maktoum Hall at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre.
