Sony Ericsson to introduce an Arabic version of its P1 smart phone at GITEX Technology Week 2007

The leading and innovative global mobile brand, Sony Ericsson, once again extends the boundaries of mobile communication with the release of a complete Arabic version of its latest smart phone: the P1 at GITEX Technology Week 2007.

Especially adapted for the Arab market, the P1 contains an impressive and complete Arabic support with never before seen features. The new pocket-size and complete mobile office smart phone includes remarkable features such as Arabic handwriting recognition, Arabic virtual keyboard, Arabic menu and Arabic multi-tab function for greater convenience when sending text message. In addition, the phone also features a Hijri calendar and prayer times, the Kebla direction for the Mecca as well as a complete Arabic/English - English/Arabic dictionary.

The P1 - 5th generation of the P-series range of smart phone was introduced to the Middle East recently and is yet gaining momentum as the pioneer in the evolution of mobile communication in its category. In addition to its all-inclusive Arabic features, the Sony Ericsson P1 is a complete mobile office with its outstanding multimedia functions, such as a wide range of push and corporate e-mail solutions, web browsing applications, and connectivity via high-speed UMTS and Wireless LAN (WiFi). Further, it is equipped with an integrated business card scanner, which transfers contact details directly into the phonebook.

For the music lovers, the P1 includes a 512 MB Memory Stick Micro™ (M2™), ideal for video and music downloads. Further, the P1 is also enabled with a Track ID feature - a unique music recognition program that records short music clips from the FM radio or external music source. This feature allows the clip to be sent via the Internet, also receiving information on the clip such as the song title, artist name as well as the name of album.
