After officially opening the show, H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum and the VIP entourage toured the exhibition for a first-hand look at some of the technological innovations being showcased during the five-day exhibition.

Judging by early visitor profiles, the show has witnessed an impressive turnout of high-calibre executives and decision-makers from across the region and globally.

Taking place from 8-12 September and occupying 64,000 square metres across the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre (DICEC), GITEX TECHNOLOGY WEEK has attracted some of the biggest brands in the ICT industry regional and international exhibitors displaying the latest technological innovations to hit one of the world's fastest-growing markets.

H.E. Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansouri, UAE Minister of Governmental Sector Development, and Chairman of the UAE Telecom Supreme Committee, opened the Global Conference, welcoming keynote speaker Al Zollar, President and Worldwide Manager, IBM Tivoli Software, and CEOs from across the region.

Zollar kick-started this year's inaugural GITEX TECHNOLOGY WEEK Global Conference programme with a keynote address to a packed audience of senior executives from across the region.

Carrying the theme 'Innovation that Matters,' the powerful address impressed audiences as Zollar outlined how customers are leveraging technology as a strategic differentiator to innovate and deliver 'value that matters' in the marketplace.

Visitors can also look forward to an informative four days ahead as the CxO networking lunches, Head-to-Head debates and SMB Solutions Clinics get under way.

'The successful launch of today's show marks the beginning of a highly significant week for the ICT industry as thousands of companies from around the world have converged upon Dubai to connect with some of the most influential players operating in the market today,'

GITEX TECHNOLOGY WEEK is open from 8 September 1pm - 7pm, 9-11 September from 10am - 7pm, and 12 September from 10am - 5pm. Trade and business professionals can register onsite and purchase a one-day pass for 40 AED or a five-day pass for 100 AED on-site, which provides access to all events and the Global Conference.

GITEX TECHNOLOGY WEEK takes place at Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre (DICEC) and features three dedicated industry events: GITEX Business Solutions, GULFCOMMS and Consumer Electronics, and will be held in association with GITEX Shopper, which takes place from the 6-12 September 2007 at the Airport Expo Dubai.
