The first day of the event focused on ICT Leadership Strategies. Delivering the keynote session was Mr. Ghassan Mayassi, Business Consulting Director of Oracle Public Sector in the Middle East & Africa and discussed the top challenges for the region's CIO's & IT Professionals in the next 5 years.
He added,
'When it comes to IT, change may very well be the only thing IT leaders can depend on for years to come. IT future challenges will be about enabling the company to do more, to become faster and more cost-effective, and competitive. The next few years will be a new era for IT Leaders because, for the first time, top management will realize that IT is the primary enabling force that can drive competitive advantage. IT will no longer be back room support function only, but a key competency, a weapon used for seizing new market share, establishing new alliances and better serving customers.'
Mr. Mark Sunner, Chief Security Analyst of MessageLabs, UK based his presentation on the 2007 Deadly Sins: Emerging Technologies, Threats and Trappings. He focused on the ever changing so called 'threatosphere' in the area of hackers & new threats appearing to new & maturing technologies such as VoIP & IM (Instant Messaging) which will be painful to consumers and companies.
Mr. Roman Konovalov, Managing Director of Aroma Software highlighted the Challenges while aligning new technology with existing business processes.
This year's event has drawn attendance from the region's information and communication technology professionals and leaders from both public and private sectors.
