- Bahrain: Sunday, September 09 - 2007 at 10:34
- PRESS RELEASE
Thousands of people from various GCC countries rushed to join the fun as crowds flocked to the Middle East's newest leisure attraction, the Lost Paradise of Dilmun water park, during the park's first weekend.
"The park received over seven thousand visitors on both Friday and Saturday, a huge success," commented Lost Paradise of Dilmun water park Chairman, Mr. Muhannad Hamad. "Naturally we are delighted with such a large attendance. We hope Lost Paradise of Dilmun will contribute to a successful future for the Kingdom's leisure and tourist industries to become the most popular water park in the region."
The Lost Paradise of Dilmun water park was opened on 2 September by His Excellency Shaikh Khaled bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Minister of the Royal Court. In its first few days, slides such as the Superbowl, Boomerango, Family Raft Ride and a huge wave pool featuring a sandy beach have become popular with visitors of different ages.
Lost Paradise of Dilmun is the second component of the unique US$ 1.3 billion plus Al Areen development to open to visitors, following the opening of the Banyan Tree Desert Spa & Resort - Al Areen in April 2007. Spread over an area of 2 million square meters, Al Areen Development is conceived to become a world class commercial, residential, tourist, educational and healthcare destination in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
"The early success of both Lost Paradise and Banyan Tree reinforces the Kingdom of Bahrain's potential in becoming a leading tourist destination in the region. With the first phase of the US$1.3 billion plus Al Areen Development now complete, Bahrain's reputation as a leading luxurious family-oriented tourist destination will be strengthened even further," added Mr. Hamad.
The park is extensively themed around the Kingdom of Bahrain's rich cultural history, from a time 4,000 years ago when Bahrain was the center of the Dilmun civilization; a place with an abundance of water, springs and shallow wells; the legendary source of eternal life.
"We would like to thank all those who visited the Lost Paradise of Dilmun Water park on our opening weekend. We were overwhelmed by everyone's fantastic response and had capacity crowds. We look forward to welcoming everyone back for the total LPOD experience again and you will find us always striving to meet and exceed expectations," said Paul Blunt, Lost Paradise General Manager.
Opening hours during Ramadan will be from 8:00 pm to 12:00 pm from Sundays to Wednesdays, and 4:00 pm to 12:00 pm from Thursdays to Saturdays.
