Abu Dhabi Motors receives first Phantom armoured vehicles in the world

"The new armoured option for the Phantom with extended Wheelbase offers additional security benefits for customers that require increased protection over the standard car," said Arno Husselmann, General Manager of Abu Dhabi Motors.

Engineered to VR7 level, the highest current international protection rating, the armoured Phantom is virtually indistinguishable from the standard version. The car is armoured using high-tech fibre composites and special purpose steel, while the glass area is constructed from thicker sheets. In addition, a polycarbonate layer is fitted to the inside for extra passenger protection.

The Phantom's aluminium spaceframe chassis and suspension components have been strengthened to cope with the additional weight of the modifications. However, the powertrain remains unchanged, providing 453bhp and a phenomenal 720nm of torque. As well as ballistic security, the new security package has been designed to offer the same refinement and dynamic ability associated with the standard Rolls-Royce range.

The armoured Phantom is hand built at Goodwood before being shipped to a specialist approved coachbuilder where it undergoes the armouring process. This approach provides customers with an integrated security system, ensuring the very highest levels of protection.

With black and white exteriors respectively, the interior design of the vehicles remains unaffected by the additional security measures.

Each of the cars has been tailored exclusively through the Rolls-Royce Bespoke programme to include a gold-plated Spirit of Ecstasy, twin coachlines in gold, rear theatre configuration including television screens and the UAE national emblem hand-stitched into all four headrests.
