Dubai Silicon Oasis establishes first R&D Laboratory in the UAE

The facility, which is in its initial phase, aims to provide a broad spectrum of services and solutions to both educational and technological institutions, operating in the fields of semiconductor design, research & test. The new facility provides access to world class equipment, and will cater to companies looking to conduct research on upcoming technologies, Soft testing designs, and hard testing prototypes and sensitive components. Moreover, the R&D Lab provides services for analyzing performances of high-tech Integrated Circuits (ICs) in an easy and affordable way.

Dr. Eesa Mohammad Bastaki, Director of Education & Technology - Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority (DSOA) said:

'As part of our commitment to develop Dubai as a premier destination for Microelectronics and Semiconductor research, development and production, DSO is proud to announce the launch of its R&D laboratory, that will offer analogue, digital, and Radio Frequency Integrated Circuit (RFIC) product prototyping, component testing, device characterization, and other facilities in an affordable and readily available alternative to purchasing in-house resources.'

'Through the establishment of the Research and Development Laboratory, we aim to compete on a global level through attracting more knowledge-based innovations such as Integrated Circuit design centers, R&D facilities, and Semiconductor manufacturing companies 'Dr. Eesa noted.

The R&D Lab will be professionally maintained, and will grant complete access to all DSO partner companies and institutions. Moreover the Lab will involve close collaboration with R&D partners, IC design centers, and in house Technology Incubation Center.
