The initial response from a vast majority of exhibitors has been exceedingly positive, as many have expressed their satisfaction at the volume and scale of qualified business leads which have come their way as a result of the sectorisation of the exhibition into dedicated industry streams.

As the most international edition of GITEX TECHNOLOGY WEEK, the exhibition has welcomed 82 countries and 28 national pavilions, including two new delegations from Italy and Bulgaria, with a number of foreign companies successfully marking their presence.

Reinforcing the international prestige of the show even further, official government delegations and foreign dignitaries including the Jordanian ICT Minister, the French Foreign Trade Minister, the Egyptian ICT Minister, the Polish Trade Minister, and a German Member of Parliament, have all made special appearances at the show to foster business development opportunities with their respective countries.

"GITEX has attracted a high volume of international participants and provided us with unprecedented exposure to a qualified range of potential clients and partners from around the globe. We have expanded our presence tremendously this year at GITEX because we strongly we believe in the business opportunities generated here,"

said Marc Van Der Ven, Managing Director, SAGE Software.

A significant number of transactions and announcements have already surfaced from emerging IT powers such as India, China, Taiwan and Egypt, as they look to compete on a global scale and rival the traditional industry powerhouses.

"This year's show has been exceptional for our company. Under the new dedicated GITEX Business Solutions area, we have filtered our leads efficiently and better utilized our time and resources at the event. This has enabled us to connect with the right executives and we expect to generate the greatest number of corporate leads ever as a result," said David Allison, General Manager, Opennet, Middle East and Africa.

This year's show has also fostered significant connections between companies from Asia, Africa, Europe and the Americas, reflecting the increasingly international nature of the show as well as the changing landscape of the ICT industry.

"The show's new concept has been very well received by visitors and exhibitors alike. It certainly validates this year's international focus, as well as our strategic plans to continue building on GITEX's leadership position to become the most significant ICT event in the world," said Helal Saeed Al Marri, Director General of Dubai World Trade Centre.

GITEX TECHNOLOGY WEEK is open from 8-11 September from 10am - 7pm, and 12 September from 10am - 5pm. Trade and business professionals can register onsite and purchase a one-day pass for 40 AED or a five-day pass for 100 AED on-site, which provides access to all events and the Global Conference.

GITEX TECHNOLOGY WEEK takes place at Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre (DICEC) featuring three dedicated industry events: GITEX Business Solutions, GULFCOMMS and Consumer Electronics, and is held in association with GITEX Shopper, which takes place from the 6-12 September 2007 at the Airport Expo Dubai.
