New Ultimate i-mate phones
- Middle East: Monday, September 10 - 2007 at 12:09
I-mate releases its first self-developed Ultimate mobile phones this October. The phones, which run the Windows Mobile operating system, come in two designs, one with a physical keyboard, one without. The 6150 will cost Dhs3,199 and the 8150 Dhs3,350.
They have VGA touch screens, 520MHz processors, support 3.5G networks and have an XGA Out port, allowing it to be attached to flat screen TVs of up to 43inch in size.
Among the software bundled with the device is the ability to remotely wipe data from the phone, should it be lost or stolen, and to remotely access the owner's computer, provided it is switched on.
Alternatively, users can back their data up onto i-mate's servers, via the One View software, giving them access to their data when the PC is off.
Jack Craine, general manager of i-mate Middle East, Africa and India, said: 'Fundamentally we are a hardware company. It's difficult to say where software is going and how much of a value proposition it will be in future. But at this point in time we see it as added value [to our phone].'
