"The Italian participation at Index is always of particular interest to the thousands of interiors professionals who visit the show every year," said Bernard Walsh, Managing Director of dmg world media Dubai Ltd., the organisers of the event.

"One of the highlights of Index every year is the wide selection of the latest designs and product innovations from Italy."

Demand for Italian interior products is especially high in the Middle East as Italy is widely recognised as one of the world leaders in quality and style. The diverse variety of styles on offer, from the traditional ornate to sleek and simple modern designs, has strong appeal to consumers throughout the region.

"The Italian participation at Index, both through the official Italian pavilion that is organised by Federlegno Arredo plus the many independent Italian companies that also exhibit, makes Italy one of the largest and most important countries participating at Index," said Kim Willis, Exhibition Development Director of dmg world media Dubai.

The residential lighting element of Index is particularly strong this year, and among the interesting Italian exhibitors in this sector is Laura Suardi, one of the world's leading manufacturers and distributors of lighting products for residential and boating use, brass marine fittings, instruments, decoration and gift products in a nautical style.

Renowned for the highest quality and safety standards, Laura Suardi monitors each phase of production process, from design, development and production to ensure maximum quality, and, in addition to a range of over 1,500 standard products will also manufacture customised products to meet the specific requirements of customers.

The company exports to more than 50 countries worldwide, and exports now account for around 80% of the company's turnover.

On the furniture side, a beautiful range of painstakingly crafted pieces for the connoisseur will be shown at Index by another Italian company, International Contract GP. This Italian furniture specialist is appreciated all over the world, in particular for its inlaid furniture in the Boulle style, plus collector's furniture, reproductions of famous masterpieces and exclusive custom made furnishing.

The company has built its reputation on its commitment to constant research and the choice of top quality materials. Historical reproductions including Napoleon's bed, Maximillian's bureau and even more precious historical pieces are rebuilt by incredibly skilled craftsmen, faithfully following every detail - from the precious woods used to marquetry design and bronze finishing in 24 carat gold leaf.

The combination of an excellent team of designers, architects and cabinet makers, brings the clients' vision to life - including boiserie, inlaid doors, polychrome marble floors and frescoes, with International Contract GP offering complete furnishing solutions for the home and office.

Visitors to Index 2007, which takes place from 1-5 November at Dubai International Exhibition Centre, will be able to source from a totally comprehensive selection of interiors products and services, covering all the key product areas - furniture, textiles, flooring, wall coverings, window products, lighting, kitchens, bathrooms, ceramics, interior architecture, accessories, interior design services and furniture production. This has proven to be one of the key strengths that has seen the show grow continually over the years, both in size and number of visitors.

"Index, which celebrates its 17th anniversary this year, is the largest and most essential meeting place for the interiors industry in the region, and is globally acknowledged as one of the world's most significant interiors events," said Walsh.

"The show is globally acknowledged to be one of the most vibrant and inspirational events of its kind anywhere in the world, and has established a truly unique reputation based on the scope and quality of the products featured and the high number of key decision makers from all over the region who visit every year."
