Among the solutions on display at the exhibition are applications that enable customers to use their Etisalat mobile phone as an electronic wallet, which all fall under Etisalat's Mobile Commerce (m-Commerce) strategy.

The m-Commerce innovations unveiled at GITEX include:

Etisalat Online Business:
The most basic mobile commerce options available to Etisalat customers are AutoPay and MobilePay, which enable people to pay their Etisalat bills, and recharge and renew their Wasel prepaid accounts, using their mobile phones or the Internet.

International Money Remittance:
Etisalat is pioneering a service in the region that will allow expatriate customers to transfer money to a bank account or predetermined outlet in their home countries using their mobile phones. The service will be especially beneficial to mobile users in the UAE who do not have a local bank account.

Credit Transfer:
This service, launched earlier this year, has proven extremely popular among Etisalat customers. It allows for the transfer of credit from a prepaid or postpaid mobile phone to an alternate prepaid mobile. Already, over AED 300 million has been transferred using this service, which involves no charges or fees and which is fully secure when using the PIN code facility.

Near Field Communication:In keeping with its reputation as a cutting-edge telecom operator, Etisalat is also demonstrating futuristic mobile phones. Samsung handsets will demonstrate a yet-to-be-seen range of financial transacting capabilities, which include making purchases from vending machines and other forms of automated payment.
