Etisalat CEO calls on customers to care for UAE environment

Mohammed Al Qamzi, Etisalat CEO today called upon his six million mobile customers to help protect the UAE environment by recycling their old mobile phones at Etisalat's giant exhibition stand at GITEX.

Mohammed Al Qamzi said: "Etisalat is an active player in promoting the social and economic environment in the markets in which we operate. We take great pride in reinforcing a positive environmental message and encouraging people's participation, in accordance to the strategic vision of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai."

He added:

"We have a long history of supporting social awareness campaigns and green causes, and were a host and sponsor of the Youth Environment Summit held at the Etisalat Academy earlier this year. Etisalat also offers environmentally friendly payment solutions including Mobile Payment, Auto Pay and Balance Transfer Services to reduce the need for scratch cards."


Etisalat is a sponsor of UAE's National Mobile Phone Recycling Campaign, which is being led by the TRA, Federal Ministry for Environment and Water and UAE Federal Environment Agency. The campaign aims to educate consumers about the dangers that old mobile phones present and encourage safe disposal of old mobile phones.

Etisalat has consistently supported this initiative through staff seminars, exhibitions and across its retail outlets. There are currently over 55 Etisalat business centers and retail outlets which have been fully equipped to support this project. Etisalat is also growing consumer awareness by drafting the support of celebrities including Ismail Matar, the UAE star striker.
