DAE University begins new academic year with new bachelor degree programs
- United Arab Emirates: Wednesday, September 12 - 2007 at 14:19
- PRESS RELEASE
DAE University, the new aerospace educational institution being established by Dubai Aerospace Enterprise (DAE), is introducing two new Bachelor degrees as it begins a new academic year.
•Bachelor of Flight and Aviation Management
•Bachelor of Business Administration (Aviation Business)
DAE University opens its doors this fall and is scheduled to begin classes on September 16 with its first cohorts in both degree programs.
Dr. George Ebbs, President and CEO of DAE University, said: "DAE University is pleased to have accomplished this significant milestone within the first year of its creation. Accreditation of these two new programs means that our degrees and our university have met the rigorous standards of the CAA in the UAE."
He continued: "Our students and first graduates can look forward to an exciting educational experience over the next four years and a rewarding career in one of the fastest growing employment fields in the region."
Dr. Irwin Price, SVP, Chief Academic Officer and Provost added: "These two new degree programs will bring a fresh approach to preparing young men and women for careers in aviation in the region. We expect our first graduates - the class of 2011 - to take leadership roles in the operation of airports, airlines, engineering & repair facilities, and manufacturing throughout the region.
John R. Metzner, SVP, External Relations, who led DAE University's licensure and accreditation effort over the past year, commented: "The accreditation process in the UAE is one of the most demanding I have encountered. Students and parents can be assured that they are participating in one of the most carefully thought out aviation and aerospace programs in the world. We would like to thank the CAA for all of their effort to make these programs so outstanding," he concluded.
DAE University will submit eight new degrees to the CAA over the next year for initial accreditation. These will include four Masters degrees (airline management and operations, airport planning and management, global logistics, and an MBA in Aerospace Management); two Bachelors degrees in engineering (aerospace and mechanical); and two programs leading to aviation licenses (under EASA/JAA) as well as Bachelor degrees (Aviation Maintenance Management and Air Traffic Control Management).
As part of DAE, which was launched in February 2006, DAE University aims to teach the skills required for empowering students to further their careers within one of the most dynamic industries in the world today.
